Mehr Licht

‘Mehr Licht’ is Guy Rombouts contribution to the open air expo ’11 artists against the wall’. Rombouts firstly choose his location and afterwords decided how to ‘interveine’. With transparent foil, originally used for theatre lights, he creates an colorful light spectacle. Further down the Theaterplein the several rectangular flowerbeds relate directly to the esthetics of this work. In a constantly changing condition, due to the light circumstances, the transparent foil attached to the glass roof surface of the theatre building, casts its reflections on the ground. It has a very abstract feel to it, yet the color areas represent the AZart alphabet, a color-coded alphabet Rombouts invented himself in 1984. In this alphabet the words ‘Merh Licht’ can be read, the last words of Goethe.
