Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt

Schirn Kunsthalle is located in the (new) old town of Frankfurt and is one of the largest exhibition halls in Europe. It was opened in 1986 and is responsible for over 200 exhibitions. The Schirn Kunsthalle does not have its own collection. It organises temporary exhibitions and projects on selected themes or the work of individual artists. The Schirn focuses on art and cultural history themes, discourses and trends from the perspective of the immediate present. The programme is diverse, international and progressive, trying to open up new perspectives and break up familiar patterns of reception. In doing so, it also operates outdoors and presents art projects that promote artistic engagement with urban space and society.
