Closed in between the road and the tramtracks at the Belgiëlei, Bram Van Meervelde plays a game with a small field of greenery. 25 molehills appear out of the flat grass surface. They seem to be rather large and resemble the real thing. However, up close they are sculptures, with a vast structure. They are site-specific and relate directly to the nearby tramtracks, which just as the moles transport themselves beneath the surface of the city. As the molehill is just a surfaced suggestion for an entire network of underground pathways, they contribute as well to the idea of the constructed city. Bram Van Meervelde often deals with the thematics of chaos, and just now now this chaos can be found in the construction sites spread out over the entire city.
