“Exercise Of Anamorphosis #2” is the second part of a series of wall paintings by Elian Chali which is build upon a study on perspective and the technique of Anamorphosis. Chali uses in this composition of abstract forms and structures the primary colours red, yellow and blue as he uses in his paintings. The mural uses two facades of one building, finding its concentric focus on the corner of the building where the two facades get together. From the square next to the building – which is composed of a playground – by a distance of 18 meters and at a hight of one meter the painting unfolds it´s complete (seemingly plain) visual. Chali is playing with the observer, trying to establish a spatial dialogue between work and observer. By moving through space and watching the mural the observer will accidentally find the “sweeping point” and get a glance on the full visual. Looking at the corner from other angles the observer will witness the natural deformation of perspective and methodology to run on that specific site. As the elements invade windows and moldings, each angle has a different morphology. Considering the location of the sweeping point in the middle of the playground it seems as if Chali gives special attention to the kids as the primary recipients of the work.
