Olivier Schimmel

In his work Olivier tries to catch the speed of events and emotion from everyday life.
Painting is a kind of battle. A struggle with him selve and with the chaos, which he tries to tame by a multitude of materials and techniques.

The work contains a veiled reality, since for Olivier reality is not conceived in realism. The work shows distorted humanity in combination with an event, a vision, nature, urbanity, industry, decay, good and evil and so on.
This approach gives space and freedom in which discovery and recognition is possible for the spectator. It can be seen as a secret code that you can read from your instinct.

Besides work on canvas Olivier makes mural paintings and photographs. He did projects in Zimbabwe, The Netherlands, Germany and Lebanon.
