Arne Quinze

Arne Van Collie turned Arne Quinze and Anre Quinze turned Artist and Curator, while keeping these two practices seperated. Lately in his Curational practice, street art finds a spot. For example in the North West Walls project at the festival terrain of Werchter. In line with these containers constructions (as carriers to display art) is his first outdoor constructed sculpture: ‘Uchronia’. This work from 2006, took shape (and lost it again) at the temporary Burning Man festival. After this, his works appeared throughout public space in Belgium (and internationally). There is a clear difference between the public structures and his his dream to create cities like open-air museums and his ‘indoor works, where painting mostly is centralized and bright colors fixate on certain natural elements. His constructions stick in your mind and not only due to Arne Quinze’s use of the color red. Somewhere between a birds nest and a pirate ship, but then larger and in the streets. There is a dream present in his works, to connect people and promote positive attitudes. He talks about his works and how they function as a ‘pause’ in their environments, a break for reflection.
