Since 2002, the Luminale Light Festival has taken place every two years in the cities of Frankfurt and Offenbach. Founded as a supporting programme to Light + Building, a trade fair for lighting and building technology, it now attracts over 200,000 visitors per event period. The categories Art (Art), Solutions, Study (Study/Draft), Community (Community) and Better City (Better City) are covered. In 2018, an interdisciplinary board of trustees supported the Luminale team for the first time in evaluating the incoming project proposals in the Art category. The Lightwalk at the Luminale is always a special pleasure for many citizens of Frankfurt and Offenbach. It connects some of the Luminale’s locations to form a large open-air gallery of installations with light and invites visitors to take a walk.
