An optical illusion expands space at the Prekersstraat in Antwerp. With the use of claire-obscure techniques a false play of depths is created by Astro, a Parisian Street Artist invited by Yvon Tordoir to take part in the 2018 Baroque Murals of Antwerp. Three similar buildings with a different orientation are provided with the same wall painting, especially designed for their architectural structure. The non-existing depth created connects the three buildings even more and ‘draws’ passengers in. The composition shows the chiaroscuro motive from baroque, simultaneously the subtle pattern and intertwined lines in the purple fields of color hint towards the decorative elements of this style period.
