The title almost works as an invitation: ‘Muurke Stamp’. To use the goal and hit the wall. In this goal, the net has been replaced by bricks, building a wall throughout the surface of the supposed ‘opening’ in the metal framework, creating an absurd object. The artist Bram Van Meervelde plays a game with our perception of this object (goal) as we know it. On the bricks traces of footmarks are present and the smaller goal surface, indicated by the painted black lines even makes the original framing more obsolete. Bram Van Meerbeke has an interest in the ‘layering’ of the world surrounding him, something which is illustrated in this object. As part of Expo 2018, Bram Van Meervelde was selected by the locals of Klein Antwerpen & Harmonie to rethink their neighbourhood. This sculpture in the Koning Albertpark is one of Bram Van Meervelde’s additions to this area of town.
